Volvo A spokesman said on Friday that the market’s uncertainty and President Donald Trump’s demand for concerns in front of the tariff in the next three months plans to close more than 800 workers in three US facilities.
Volvo Group North America said in a statement that they have told the employees that it plans to laying 550-800 people on its Mac truck site in Macungi, Pennsylvania, and Dublin, Virginia and HagarStown, Maryland have two Volvo group facilities.
The company, part of the AB Volvo of Sweden, employs about 20,000 people in North America, according to its website.
Trump has extended the global trade system that has been over 75 years with tariffs plan on products around the world. Their vaccination trade policy has reduced consumer and commercial confidence, and caused economists to increase their forecasts for American recession.
The Volvo Group’s Le-off is the latest reaction from a car and truck industry that is re-running from the Republican President’s tariff on some parts, expecting the cost of manufacturing vehicles to increase.
A spokesman from the Volvo Group North America said in an email statement, “Heavy-fee trucks are negatively affected by market uncertainty about freight rates and demands, potential regulatory changes and tariffs.”
“We regret taking this action, but we need to align production with low demand for our vehicles.”
